How I remember the winter night!
You and I had wandered by the seas, the hills and the plains!
We met the seafarers of the ancient days!
We saw the cities, its people, the temples!
The palaces, the battles, the mutineers!
We saw the inordinate ambition of Macbeth,
The razor sharp marshaling of affairs by his Lady!
We met Hrothgar. Beowulf, Iliad, Hector!
The beautiful Helen and a thousand ships!
So many beautiful faces did we see !
Now the same winter night is here!
Though the sky is vaulted with all our pain and sins,
Though the dew is heavy with all our grief and pain,
I can remember the most beautiful face of the olden time,
Your face, from behind the dark will bring a winter morning;
But we will not forget our pain then,
We will not atone for our sins yet!
We will only love, hold each other's hands,
We will repay the earth the love,
The humanity owes this love to it since ancient time!
